Join Hermes Press as we explore the worlds of cynical cavemen and the medieval world of “Id”!
Johnny Hart and his two longtime comic strip series B.C. and Wizard of Id are coming to Hermes Press in a monograph dedicated to the artist: The Art and Humor of Johnny Hart!
This exciting art book will detail Hart’s life and his work, both of which were totally intertwined. The book will feature original art from the strips, as well as photographs and other surprises supplied by his family.
Back in 1958, Hart created B.C., followed in 1964 by Wizard of Id, and the two series have been beloved by the nation and the world ever since.
In 2007, Hart passed away leaving the strips in the capable hands of his grandsons, Mason and Mick Mastroianni. In the words of Jim Davis, “What better honor can a comic strip enjoy than to have it lovingly carried on by family. Mason and Mick Mastroianni have certainly inherited the Hart “silly” gene, forB.C. and Wizard of Id are just as funny as ever under their able pens.”
The Art and Humor of Johnny Hart will add to Hermes Press’ already impressive lineup of art monographs of important comic artists, including Alex Raymond, Jim Davis, and Frank Frazetta! It’s going to be a must-have for any fan of the series or Johnny Hart!
